Sprayable Biodegradable Polymer Membrane (SBPM) for farm owners/operators, non-operating landowners, small/mid-scale farmers, and agricultural/farming equipment suppliers

About Us

Aras AgroTech has aimed to provide a reliable solution to the problem of plastic pollution and waste disposal. Aras AgroTech has developed a sustainable approach by offering Sprayable Biodegradable Polymer Membrane (SBPM), a new generation of 100% bio-based and sustainable agricultural mulch. The SBPM layer can be applied to the growing crops rather than laying the prefabricated mulch films. The polymer membrane is made from non-toxic materials and is considered safe for both the environment and crops. In addition, SBPM is integrated with viscosity modifiers to minimize wicking and reduce the consumption of the main polymer. Viscosity modifiers can prevent rapid adsorption (e.g., wicking) into the soil due to reduced viscosity, as wicking may result in poor membrane formation and inconsistencies in membrane thickness, weakening water barrier properties.

Mission

To develop, produce and market the best bio-based products for industries like waste management, industrial applications, and agriculture, while focusing on renewable, biodegradable, and compostable.

Vision

To innovate high quality environment-friendly products and encourage the use of these products by making them affordable and high profit generating in the long run.

Problems To Solve

Rise in Plastic
Waste

An estimated 70% of all single-use plastics, at some stage of their life cycle (whole, partially decomposed, or microplastic beads), end up polluting the terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. 10 million tons of plastic mulch films are used in farming.

Unsustainable Crop Production

Microplastic contamination threatens soil biota by altering habitat and adversely affecting bulk density, water holding capacity, and microbial activity, ultimately posing risks to human health and ocean ecosystems.

Rising Demand to Produce More Food

By 2050, the world will need to feed more than 9 billion people. Presently, major challenges being faced by the population include limited fresh water, cropping systems that do not negatively impact the environment.

High Cost of Farm Equipment

Machinery and equipment are major cost items in farm businesses. Larger machines, new technology, higher prices for parts and new machinery, and higher energy prices have all caused machinery and power costs to rise in recent years.

Our Solution

Aras AgroTech has developed an innovative spray-on polymer membrane, which has been 100% bio-based and made from non-toxic materials. This technology has allowed farmers to increase crop yield and save water, while reducing inputs and minimizing environmental impact. The SBPM solution has eliminated the need for disposal of plastic mulch after each cropping cycle and has left no toxic residues in the soil. With the obstruction of photosynthetically active radiation by the opaque nature of SBPM, weed growth has been effectively suppressed. The “spray and walk away” application method has simplified the process, requiring no specialized farm equipment. Farmers have the flexibility to adjust coverage depth, thickness, and width using a simple handheld or conventional spray rig. Moreover, the production of concentrated SBPM solution has reduced transportation costs significantly. The environmentally friendly and sustainable nature of SBPM has made it completely biodegradable in fields, with no adverse effects observed on soil, water systems, microbiota, or soil organisms. Additionally, a reduction of soil wicking by 50-90% has been observed with various viscosity modifiers.
